Many children avoid the dentist for almost two extra years because of fear – arriving later, with more disease and more stressful visits for everyone. This post breaks down what that delay really costs your practice.
Early, positive visits are the foundation of lifelong oral health. Yet many children wait far too long to see a dentist because of fear, which means their very first visit is often already a “problem visit.”
In a pilot presented at WDC 2024, records from 178 children aged 1–18 were reviewed. Half were classified as fearful, the other half as non-fearful, matched by age and gender.
Two extra years is a long time for caries to progress. By the time fearful kids arrive, their “first” visit is more likely to involve multiple lesions, worried parents, and a child who already expects the worst.
Immersive virtual reality (VR) gives you a practical way to tame fear right from the start. Using VR at the first visit can:
For non-fearful or mildly anxious children, this can be the difference between a first visit that quietly plants the seed of dental fear, and one that builds trust, curiosity, and long-term loyalty to your clinic.
Our VR dental solution is built for these moments: short, engaging experiences that fit your workflow, support procedures, and help you grow a calmer, more loyal pediatric base.
